Junior Secondary (Years 7-8) and Middle Secondary (Years 9-10) Curriculum
Lee Street State Special School adheres to the timing and learning area allocations as recommended by the Department of Education for Junior and Middle Secondary students. Lee Street State Special School is currently implementing all aspects of the Australian Curriculum.
Students are taught and assessed with reports written for all learning areas and Individual Curriculum Plans (ICPs) are created for all students, in all learning areas, in Years 7 to 10. Content is backward mapped from a Year 7, 8, 9 or 10 context to an appropriate curriculum level for each student.
Middle Secondary students choose electives each semester for HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences), Technologies and The Arts.
Senior Secondary (Years 11-12) Curriculum
The Senior Secondary students are taught within the Guideline to Individual Learning (GIL) curriculum framework. Applied Senior Syllabus subjects are backward mapped within each GIL curriculum organiser to an appropriate curriculum level for each student. Senior Secondary students working at a curriculum level of foundation or above also undertake a Certificate I course.
PATH and SET plans are written for each student to determine appropriate pathways for subject selection, work experience and post school options. Senior Secondary students choose electives each term for CCE (Community, Citizenship and the Environment), LR (Leisure and Recreation) and VTA (Vocational and Transitional Activities).
